Best know for the role as Uncle Henry in the 1939 film 'The Wizard of Oz'
Also acted in 'Jed's Vacation (1929),' 'The Petrified Forest (1936),' 'The Good Earth (1937),' 'Captains Courageous (1937),' 'The Grapes of Wrath (1940),' 'Tobacco Road (1941),' 'They Died with Their Boots On (1941)' and 'When I Grow Up (1951)'
Died of natural causes in Corona, CA at age 86

Why he might be annoying:

He married his wife in 1895 when he was 25 and she was just 15.
Of the five 1929 movies he was in, his wife was in four of them.
Starting late in the film industry, he was nearly 70 when he found fame as Uncle Henry.
He was in over 100 films and never nominated for any awards.

Why he might not be annoying:

One of his early jobs was as a trapeze artist/aerialist in a traveling circus.
A skit he wrote called 'The Mismated Pair' is credited as the first legitimate Vaudevillian sketch without dancing or singing in the act.
He was married to the same woman for 47 years until her 1943 death.
Because the couple had no children, he willed his entire estate to his long time housekeeper.
The city where he died (Corona, CA) named Grapewin Street in his honor.
