The Resume

    (September 25, 1969-June 1, 2002)
    Born in Bloemfontein, South Africa
Birth name was Wessel Johannes Cronje
Captain of South Africa's national cricket team (1994-2000)
Died in a plane crash at age 32

Why he might be annoying:

He protested a controversial ruling in a test match against Australia by shoving a cricket stump through the umpires' dressing room door.
He was banned for life for fixing matches (October 11, 2000).
His death led to rumors that he had been murdered on the orders of a betting syndicate. (Considering that he had caught a last-minute ride on a cargo plane after missing his scheduled flight, those cricket betting syndicates must work awfully fast.)

Why he might not be annoying:

His priest, Pastor Ray McCauley, called him a 'person with a huge, big heart,' always ready to visit orphanages and schools.
As a captain, he ranked third internationally in both total wins (99) and winning percentage (73.7%).
Despite the ban, he ranked #11 in a poll of the greatest South Africans of all time conducted by SABC3 TV (2004).
