    Before it is called 'Lincoln City,' the choices of using any of the names such as Cutler City, Taft, Nelscott, Delake, and Oceanlake were considered controversial.
    A very short river flowing from Devils Lake to the Pacific Ocean located here went nameless until it was named the D River.

    The Chinook Winds Casino opens 24 hours daily.
    Due its distinction of being called the 'Kite Capital of the World,' it hosts a kite festival every June and October.

    It often gets listed as one of the best places to retire in the U.S..
    Nelscott Reef is among one of the best surfing places of the Pacific Ocean.
    It was the first place in the U.S. on the path of totality for viewing a total solar eclipse (August 21, 2017).
