Why Whistler, British Columbia might be annoying:

The Ski to Sky highway (that goes to Whistler) was once considered one of the world’s most dangerous highways.
The cost of real estate there is so high, the city had to provide dormitory-type housing for retail- and service-sector employees working there at below par rental rates.

Why Whistler, British Columbia might not be annoying:

That same dangerous highway offers a spectacularly beautiful scenic drive.
Road crews made the highway less dangerous in time for the 2010 Winter Olympics.
    Two million people visit annually.
Its Blackcomb mountain is considered one of the world’s top skiing destinations.
The ski slopes are also popular for other winter activities, like snowboarding and tobogganing.
It’s central village provides dining and shopping.
In the summer, roads and trails are great for bicycling and hiking.
