Why they might be annoying:

They took their name from a very old truck manufactured by Oldsmobile founder Ransom Eli Olds.
Their first frontman, Terry Luttrell, left after one album. Cronin recorded on their 2nd, but was given the heave-ho and replaced with Mike Murphy. He stayed for the next three, was fired, and replaced again with Cronin (no hard feelings).
Cronin and Richrath have been rumored to have had heated arguments over creative control and musical direction.
Richrath has been in and out of the band with major substance abuse problems.
By the mid 80's they were out of gold records and playing 'musical chairs' with band members. Doughty has been the only constant.

Why they might not be annoying:

Founding members Doughty and Gratzer met at the University of Illinois where they both graduated.
The band kept pushin' and finally hit gold with their 7th album.
They have had success with both outright rockers and power ballads.
They have scored 13 top 40 singles, including two Billboard #1 hits.
They sold over 40 million records.
After their VH1 'Behind The Music' episode, there was renewed interest in their work (2001). They teamed with veteran rock band Styx for a successful dual reunion tour, splitting the revenue between the bands 50/50.
