The Resume

    (October 4, 1965- )
Born in Novorossiysk, Krasnodar Krai, Russia
    Born Evgeni Valentinovich Kaspersky
Head of the Kaspersky Lab (global computer security company)
Creator of the Kaspersky anti-virus software line
2009 Russian Federation National Award in Science and Technology
2009 People’s Republic of China Friendship Award
2010 Virus Bulletin Lifetime Achievement Award
Honorary Doctorate of Technology (Plymouth University, 2012)
Author of ‘New Year at the South Pole’ and ‘The Kaspersky Principle (Russian)’

Why he might be annoying:

This gem in a 2010 interview: ‘I was born many, many years ago, in 1965.’
At first glance, he gives off Philip Seymour Hoffman vibes (but then, remember that Hoffman died in 2014 at 46).
If you use his antivirus software, using the profile module may require you to disable it during activity.
He originally named his anti-virus project ATP (anti-viral toolkit pro) but accidentally called it AVP when packing a file. (A friend told him the name stuck.)
He regularly attends and sometimes participates in Formula One races (for which Kaspersky Lab was a sponsor).
Bloomberg L.P. blasted him for having connections with Russian military and intelligence officials — which he regarded as ‘sensationalist’ coverage to increase readership.

Why he might not be annoying:

The 1989 Cascade virus – which affected his own device – inspired him to study computer virus strains.
Against his reservations, his first wife convinced him to put his name on the laboratory of which she was a co-founder.
Because he believes security personnel and average users are lacking particular computer skills, he is an advocate for cybersecurity education.
He believes the Web needs to be divided into three zones: red for critical processes, yellow for adult content, and green for social networks, blogs and whatnot (‘everything that’s about your freedom of speech; no authorization required’).
For all his tech savvy, colleagues and associates describe him as being jovial.
He routinely blogs about his worldwide travels.
