Why they might be annoying:

They started their career singing cover versions of R&B songs, then songs written for them by other artists.
Nash left in 1968 over creative differences and helped form Crosby, Stills & Nash.
They had many line-up changes since Nash departed.
They released one album with all Bob Dylan remakes (1969) and another with all Buddy Holly remakes. Both were poorly received.
They broke up in 1981, only to reform again in 1983.
They continue to perform the oldies circuit with only two original members (Hicks and Elliott).

Why they might not be annoying:

They are huge fans of the The Everly Brothers and patterned their lush harmonies after them.
They've earned many gold and platinum records, including 29 Top 40 hits in the U.K. and 5 Top 10 hits in the U.S.
'He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother' became the motto for Father Flanagan's Boys Town.
Actress Carrie-Anne Moss was named for their song 'Carrie Anne,' which came out the year she was born (1967).
After a 9 year absence from the charts they had a surprise Top 40 hit in the U.S. with a remake of Diana Ross & the Supremes 'Stop, In the Name of Love.' (1983)
After Clarke retired in 2002 he was replaced by The Move's singer Carl Wayne, but he died of cancer after only two years with the group (2004).
