    Birth name was Encep Nurjaman
    Former leader of Jemaah Islamiyah
    Widely known as the ‘Osama bin Laden of Southeast Asia’
    Fought in Soviet-Afghan War (1983-1989)
    Founded Konsojaya as a front company for terrorism in the guise of an import-export company trading palm oil between Malaysia and Afghanistan (June 1994)
    Arrested in Ayutthaya, Thailand along with his wife (August 11, 2003)
    Incarcerated at Guantanamo Bay since 2006

Why he might be annoying:

    There are so many ways to spell his full name when transliterated to English.
    His birth year is sometimes listed as 1966.
    He was the main mastermind behind the attacks conducted by Jemaah Islamiyah.
    He plotted to create ethnic discord between Chinese and Malays as part of his strategy to bring Muslims to jihad.
    Prior to the 2002 Bali bombings, the Indonesian government didn’t bother to take notice of him, let alone arrest him mainly because of his reclusive lifestyle.
    His nephew Wilson Halim is a budding terrorist.
    He provided money and documents to 9/11 conspirator Zacarias Moussaoui.
    He had ambitions to create a Muslim theocracy in Southeast Asia that he would rule as Caliph.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He came from a peasant background.
    He was a bright student at high school.
    He fled to Malaysia in response to Suharto’s crackdown on religious extremists.
    He was the only non-Arab in Al-Qaeda’s military committee.
    During his time in Malaysia, he and his wife lived in abject poverty.
    He managed to put an entire region in the map despite his humble origins.
