The Resume

    (February 23, 1960- )
    Born in Tokyo, Japan
Became Emperor Naruhito as of May 1, 2019
    Grandson of Emperor Hirohito

Why he might be annoying:

    He plays the viola.
He had trouble finding a wife because his girlfriends feared the restrictiveness of royal life.
He had to propose twice to Masako Owado before she accepted.
There was much media focus on his lack of a male heir.

Why he might not be annoying:

His wedding was viewed by over 500 million people worldwide.
His daughter’s birth in 2001 nearly led to a change in Imperial Succession Law to allow a woman to become the monarch.
This probably will not happen now, however, as his younger brother has since fathered a son.
He asked the public to be considerate of his wife’s depression, brought on by the stress of royal life.
    He heavily promotes water conservation.
