    Her voice was low and manly.
    One critic compared it to ‘somebody blowing into a jug.’
    She made her U.S. debut at a ‘hootenanny.’
    She announced she was going to record 22 albums of Robert Burns songs, but only finished seven.

    She was one of the most important Celtic singers of the folk revival in the 1960’s.
