Why he might be annoying
He doesn't know Latin or Greek, so when he studies the Church Fathers, he has to use translations and not the original sources.
His books on early Christianity are basically cut and paste jobs. He takes quotes from the Church Fathers and adds commentary explaining why the quote supports the teachings of the Catholic Church on a given subject and 'voila!' he has a book.
Many, if not most Christians, don't know or care who the Church Fathers were.
Why he might not be annoying
He does an excellent job of taking what can be a dry subject, early Christian history, and making it exciting.
He does an outstanding job of defending his beliefs, especially from protestant fundamentalists who hate the Catholic Church.
He has hosted seven different TV series on EWTN.
