Why he might be annoying
He was a minor league journeyman prior to signing with Anaheim.
He attended Bowling Green University on a golf scholarship prior to playing hockey.
He earned the nickname 'Disco Dan' as a result of his penchant for dancing in the locker room.
His lack of scoring punch played a role in not being able to become an everyday player.
He was injury prone throughout his playing career.
Why he might not be annoying
He excelled on penalty killing.
He guided the Penguins to a 18–3–4 finish, which was good enough for fourth place in the NHL's Eastern Conference after replacing Michel Therrien as the team's head coach.
He is the second rookie head coach in NHL history to guide his team to the Stanley Cup championship.
He started a foundation to help underprivileged children play organized hockey.
He guided the Penguins to the franchise's third Stanley Cup title less then four months after being named head coach (2009).
