He was a divorced father of four.
He was free basing cocaine, causing a fire on the airplane he was traveling on.
The plane crashed and he died (1985).
He was booed at an all star concert at Madison Square Garden, because the fans did not like his new long haired look and change of image (1971).
He became so outraged, he decided to quit touring and wrote the song 'Garden Party,' bad mouthing the fans and the other performers.
Much to his surprise the song became his biggest hit.
