Famous for the 'curse of the bambino': The Red Sox won 5 world series titles before Ruth was traded to the no championship Yankees. Since then, the Yankees won 25 titles and Red Sox 1.
He drank to excess.
In 1961, Roger Maris broke his home run record, so the record keepers put the famous asterisk next to Maris' name, to keep Babe in the record books.
Why he might not be annoying
He saved the game of baseball.
Attendance dropped after the black sox scandal, then got traded to the Yankees and people came out to see him hit home runs.
Kids love him.
He is left handed.
