The Resume

    Republican
    Former Capitol Hill staffer
    Resides in Alexandria, Virginia
Served as Communications Director/Press Secretary to Rep. Steven Fincher, and former Rep. Joe Walsh
Came under fire for harshly criticizing Sasha and Malia Obama during President Obama’s Thanksgiving turkey pardon, later deleting the controversial Facebook post and making her page private (Nov. 26, 2014)
Post went viral and subsequently sparked the trending hashtags, #DCGOPGirl and #FireElizabethLauten
Announced her resignation shortly after offering a public apology on Facebook, reading: 'Please know that these judgmental feelings truly have no pace in my heart. Furthermore, I’d like to apologize to all of those who I have hurt and offended with my words, and pledge to learn and grow (and I assure you I have) from this experience.'

Why she might be annoying:

She captioned her social media pictures with #preppy.
She reportedly visited 40 Capitol Hill offices to display her - alleged - social-media savvy skills.
Rachel Maddow and Rosie Perez openly doubted the sincerity of her written apology.
It's not like the 'getting fired for posting too much on social media' plot is anything new, but this was someone who really should've, ought've, known better....
She commented on the Obama daughters' attire by saying it looked like they were seeking 'a spot at the bar.'
She told the 'awkward teenage' Obama daughters to dress 'like you deserve respect' (thereby implying that they didn't) and like 'being in the White House matters' to them.
She topped it all off by dissing their parents as poor role models who 'don't respect their positions very much - or the nation for that matter.'
That she had been arrested, at 17, for shoplifting from a local department store, led some to question whether she had any business determining who came up short in the 'role model department.'

Why she might not be annoying:

Red State's Erik Erickson said he would hire her 'if he had a budget.'
She admitted to judging the Obama daughters 'in a way that I would never have wanted to be judged myself as a teenager.'
She decided to resign after hours of prayer and after talking with her parents.
Its a bit of leap to accuse her of cyberbullying, even if that specific post might have been uncalled for.
She was vocally attacked by Star Jones and Wendy Williams (its bad enough to piss off the First Family, but she had to go and get the clucking hens angry too...)
She's not exactly in the minority if she believes that the Obamas don't much respect their positions.
She wasn't the only one to make note of the Obama daughters' unenthused attitudes at public events, although they phrased their observations less personally.
At least she didn't offer the lame defenses of 'I have a lot of black friends' and 'I voted for Obama twice, so I can't possibly be racist.'
A photo of a wasted college student clinging to a liquor bottle with her lips went viral after it was identified as Lauten 'displaying First Daughter behavior,' but it was later determined that the image wasn't her.
The outrage over her undiplomatic comments came not one month after CNN's Carol Costello brashly guffawed to the camera over audio of Bristol Palin emotionally recounting her assault experience at a party (she was never made to apologize, much less resign...)
Her social media accounts suggest that she eventually landed on her feet and that she and her family moved on from the experience.
