    Invented the Computer Mouse, Hypertext, the Multiwindow Display, Groupware and ARPANET (Predecessor of the Internet)

Why he might be annoying:

    His slogan was 'Augmentation, not automation.'
    He patented the mouse under the user unfriendly name 'X-Y Position Indicator for a Display System.'
    He said of his part in computer technology: 'After all those dark and lonely years, where I really wondered what I was doing -- if anyone was hearing what I was saying -- to have something like this happen is wonderful. I could go another 50 years.'

Why he might not be annoying:

    He was a Navy electronics technician during World War II.
    He earned a PhD at UC-Berkeley (1955).
    He introduced NLS (oN-Line System) a fore runner to outline editors, hypertext linking, tele-conferencing, word processing, e-mail and user configurability and programmability (1968).
    He was inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame (1998).
