Why he might be annoying:

The year that he led the AL in hits and batting average (1961), he was overshadowed by Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris home run record chase.
He said, 'I owe my success to expansion pitching, a short right field fence and my hollow bats.'
He posed for a photo layout in Sports Illustrated demonstrating how to cork a bat.
After 1961, his batting average never rose above .290.

Why he might not be annoying:

His .361 batting average in 1961 was the highest of any major league player in the 1960s.
He led the AL in fielding percentage twice (1964, 67) and assists three times (1965-67)
Teammate Gates Brown said, 'He played hard on the field and off, and win, lose or draw, he was going to have fun after a game.'
As a joke, during a Nolan Ryan no-hitter, he brought a table leg to the plate instead of a bat. When the umpire told him to get a regulation bat, Cash replied, 'I won't hit him anyway (July 15, 1973).'
