Why they might be annoying:

They were a one-hit wonder in the US.
'Hocus Pocus' by Focus was a tongue-twister for DJs introducing their hit.
'Hocus Pocus' featured flutes and yodeling.
When van Leer reformed Focus, he hired the members of a Focus tribute band.

Why they might not be annoying:

They fused elements of rock, jazz and classical music.
They were the first Dutch band to place an album in the Top 10 of the US charts.
Van Leer said of 'Hocus Pocus,' 'We wanted it humorous because of the great lack of humor in rock music.'
