Why he might be annoying
He ran for president a record nine times (1948-1992).
He also ran for governor of Pennsylvania twice, the United States Senate twice and mayor of Philadelphia once.
The only time he even came close to being president was his first attempt.
He was considerably more liberal than most Republicans.
He wore a cheap wig hoping it would make him stop losing elections.
His legacy is his addiction to losing in elections.
Why he might not be annoying
He graduated from high school at 14.
As of 2006, he was Minnesota's youngest governor (elected at 32).
He was skilled at drumming up donations for political parties and universities.
He almost replaced Richard Nixon on the Eisenhower ticket.
He was an ally of Martin Luther King, Jr.
He was instrumental in developing the United Nations.
He made a name for himself in two states (Minnesota and Pennsylvania).
