The Resume

    (July 13, 1965- )
    Born in Paterson, New Jersey
Acted in 'Forrest Gump,' 'Fair Game,' 'Boogie Nights,' 'Planet of the Apes,' 'The Replacements,' 'The Great White Hype,' 'The Fan,' and 'State of Play'
Portrayed the lead role of Michael Jordan in the television biopic, 'Michael Jordan: An American Hero' (1999)
Best known as Officer Julien Lowe in the FX series, 'The Shield' (2002-2008)
Arrested for fatally shooting his wife, April Jace, on May 20, 2014
Convicted of second-degree murder on May 31, 2016; Sentenced to forty years to life on June 10, 2016

Why he might be annoying:

He was typecast as lower-class hustlers and thugs, usually going uncredited.
No less ironically, his two meatier roles were playing police officers in 'Shield' and 'Southland.'
He played an ex-convict mover accused of murder, on an episode of Cold Case.
He nursed a jealous possessiveness of his wife, well beyond an obsession (she was allegedly planning on leaving him).
He filed for bankruptcy; listing his debts at between $500,000 and $1 million (2011).
He killed his second wife in front of their two kids, reportedly after she had returned home from taking them to a baseball game.
He reportedly told his wife, a former Track & Field World Masters champion, 'if you like running, run to heaven' before he shot her (twice in the leg, once in the back).
His ex-wife testified to his having beaten and choked her while their six-month old was crying in his nearby crib.
Los Angeles police confirmed that he and his wife had shared 164 text messages during a heated argument that allegedly led him to snap, after hacking into the late April Jace's locked iPhone.
He was in a state of willed denial during his trial, insisting that he had acted in self defense and intended only to shoot his wife in the legs, not commit first-degree murder (April's mother left the courtroom gallery in disgust).

Why he might not be annoying:

He received mixed reviews for playing Michael Jordan.
He had a memorable role in 'Forrest Gump' as a belligerent member of the Black Panther Party.
He reportedly had difficulty finding work after the end of 'Shield,' leading to financial difficulties.
A Gofundme.com page was created to raise funds in support of her three children who were left behind after her murder ('April Jace's Children's Fund').
