    Won two gold medals in Super-G at the Alpine World Ski Championships (1989,1991)
    Died of a broken neck in an accident during a downhill race at Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany

Why she might be annoying:

    She had announced plans to retire at the end of the 1993-94 racing season to spend more time with her daughter and marry her fiance.
    A few days before the accident, in an interview about the dangers of the sport she said, 'You can't escape your fate. But I hope I am able to judge the risk of the downhill.'
    Her fatal crash was broadcast live on Austrian TV.

Why she might not be annoying:

    She won her first world title while three months pregnant.
    She said, 'Having a daughter is a major motivational factor.'
    Her daughter was not present at the race to witness the crash.
    She was considered a favorite to medal in several events at the Winter Olympics in Lillehamer.
