Why he might be annoying:

At the age of 16, he was teaching high school in a rural community.
He used his newspapers to portray himself as a champion of the common man.
When the stock market crashed, he ordered all of his newspapers to keep stories about the crash off the front page (1929).
He was defeated in his presidential bid by Warren G. Harding (1920).

Why he might not be annoying:

He was the first person to be elected governor of Ohio for three terms.
As a governor, he passed several workers' compensation bills.
He favored U.S. entry into the League of Nations after World War I.
His vice-presidential running mate in his presidential run was Franklin Roosevelt.
Despite becoming a wealthy man, he always remained humble.
