(1956),' 'Advise & Consent (1962),' 'Black Like Me (1964),' 'In Cold Blood (1967),' 'The President's Analyst (1967),' 'Napoleon and Samantha (1972),' 'Jeremiah Johnson (1972)' and 'The Billion Dollar Hobo (1977)'
Died of a respiratory ailment at age 76

Why he might be annoying:

He is credited with some early work by the pun name High Ghere.
He was a vegetarian.
His political beliefs caused him to be blacklisted in Hollywood during the early 1950's.
He wanted to be known as a radical, stating: 'A rebel is just against things for rebellion's sake. By radical, I mean someone who goes to the roots.'
While he laid on his deathbed, his family sang: 'This Land Is Your Land.'

He received a degree in horticulture from Columbia University.
During the 1930's, he toured government work camps with folk singers Burl Ives and Woody Guthrie.
He combined his love of botany and Shakespeare by building the Will Geer Theatricum Botanicum, a combo theatre/botanical garden.
His theatre gave work for his friends and fellow blacklisted actors.
He grew every plant mentioned in any Shakespearean work.
