Why he might be annoying
He refused to congratulate Chicago Cub Marlon Byrd for throwing out David Ortiz at second base in the bottom of the ninth inning of the 2010 MLB All Star Game.
He defended his action by saying, 'I don't like the Cubs.'
Many of his fans sported t-shirts which read 'Vote Votto' and 'Future Mrs. Votto.'
He is an avid Los Angeles Lakers fan.
In fact, he missed his team's flight to play against the Seattle Mariners so that he could watch Game 7 of the 2010 NBA Finals in which the Lakers defeated the Boston Celtics.
Why he might not be annoying
In 2008, he broke legendary Reds player Frank Robinson's record for the most runs batted in by a rookie in a single season.
He played for Canada in the 2009 World Baseball Classic.
His father died suddenly of undisclosed causes at age 52 in August 2008.
He was named NL Player of the Week after hitting 10 doubles in a five-game span (September 28, 2009).
